Monday in the making

I have a bit more time to craft over the next couple of weeks and already I have embraced this extra freedom. It turns out, I have nothing at the moment completed, but I do have a lot of projects in progress. I am busily making new stock for the store (and releasing new design ideas that have been churning in my mind) and creating some items for a charity auction (which need to be submitted shortly). Here are some photos of my works in progress:

I have two wall hanging designs in progress, made up with upcycled t-shirts and reclaimed fabric.

More crochet squares are being developed. They will be stitched together to create a retro looking cushion cover. These squares have been made out of reclaimed yarn.

A couple of weeks ago, I made a paper mache/decoupage heart decoration. I have some ideas for a different heart shape and a bauble. I have just finished making the frames for them (hence the photos in poor light...sorry).

I hope to show some updated photos soon. Thanks for viewing!

The weekend in snapshots

I've wanted to create another blog theme as I love sharing what I create and I love sharing the fabulous creations that others make, but I wanted to add something else...

... Over the weekend, I was reminded about making the most of the moments of each day and to look at the positives of each day. After a sudden medical issue occurred with my husband (which could have potentially evolved to a life threatening situation), grasping life and revelling in moments and time with people has become more important. So, I thought it would be a bit novel to take snapshots of moments throughout the weekend to celebrate. I found that this weekend  was easy as we enjoyed celebrating two special events, but some weekends I think I will need to think out of the square a little. So.. for this weekend, here goes...

A beautiful wedding ceremony and reception.

Going out for a bike ride.

Celebrating a friend's birthday.

What did you enjoy or appreciate this weekend?
Have a great week!

Wonderful Wednesday - Cupcakes

I love cake! I love visiting cafes and having a good coffee teamed with a yummy cake. I also love cooking... (only when I am not too busy). I enjoy holidays because I can try out new recipes or those that take a little more time to make up. Tonight I whipped up a batch of cupcakes in readiness for work tomorrow. I thought I would glance through Madeit to find some cake inspired handmade goodness...

Felt play food by 'Creative Wishes'

If you are not into baking the real thing, this felt play food would make a great replacement. This set would stimulate imaginative play with your littlies. I particularly love those juicy looking strawberries.

Cupcake toppers by 'Ben & Jess'

What a sweet way to make cupcakes extra special! These princess cupcake toppers would add extra decoration for cupcakes for a little princess. 'Ben & Jess' also have a variety of cupcake toppers, to suit different party themes.

Tea and Treats ring by 'Urban Charms'

I love this cup of tea and snack...particularly as it is in minature. This makes a unique item of jewellery. 'Urban Charms' also have a variety of fab food jewellery items.

I hope that this provides you with some inspiration!

Monday in the making

Getting back into the swing of designing, creating (and blogging about it) after some hectic life moments...

Inspiration can emerge from a variety of sources. I was reading through a craft book which showed a talented crafter that made paper mache and decoupage birds. I had an idea to create a heart decoration using paper mache and decoupage. This is the final result...

I wanted a shabby chic look and I also wanted a touch of fabric and lace. I can't wait to make similar hearts and I also have an idea for a more hollow heart decoration...
